Microsoft’s Head of Gaming Teases “GoldenEye Type” Reveals Ahead of June Showcase

Microsoft’s Head of Gaming, Phil Spencer, has revealed that the company has some “GoldenEye type” surprises planned in the lead up to a major product showcase in June. Speaking in a recent Xbox On interview, Spencer stated that while the team’s focus is primarily on the showcase, there is still news to come before then.

Xbox and Bethesda Developer_Direct Event Recap

The first Xbox and Bethesda Developer_Direct digital event took place last month, where Microsoft announced Minecraft Legends and Redfall release dates, showed off Forza Motorsport, and revealed Hi-Fi Rush from Tango Gameworks. The company also confirmed plans to host a product showcase in Los Angeles in June.

Plans for June Product Showcase

Spencer stated that the team is working hard to prepare for the showcase, but also has some exciting reveals in the works, likening them to the recent announcement of a modern port of GoldenEye 007 for Xbox Game Pass. He also hinted at games being made available in different services, with the Game Pass portfolio continuing to expand.

“GoldenEye Type” Reveals Coming Soon

Despite the upcoming showcase being the main focus for the team, Spencer acknowledged the strength of Microsoft’s current portfolio of games, which includes Redfall, Minecraft Legends, Starfield, and Forza. He expressed his excitement for the recent release of Hi-Fi Rush and the fact that people are beginning to play.

Focus on Getting Ready for the Showcase

Starfield, which was delayed from November 2022 to “the first half of 2023”, was notably absent from the Developer_Direct presentation. However, Microsoft has stated that it plans to hold a standalone event in order to provide a deep dive into the sci-fi RPG.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Microsoft fans can look forward to some exciting announcements in the coming months, building up to the major product showcase in June. With the Game Pass portfolio continuing to grow and strong titles like Redfall, Minecraft Legends, and Starfield on the horizon, it’s an exciting time to be an Xbox player.
