Sons of the Forest Launches with Over 100,000 Concurrent Players on Steam Early Access
The highly anticipated survival game, Sons of the Forest, has launched on Steam Early Access today, February 23.
Over 100,00 concurrent players
The game has already made a huge impact, with data from SteamDB showing that it has exceeded 100,000 concurrent players at launch and reached an impressive 149,000 concurrent players at the time of writing. In addition, it is currently at the top of Steam’s best-seller list.
Community Collaboration
Endnight, the developer, chose to release Sons of the Forest on February 23 rather than delaying it again, as it wanted to collaborate with the community to shape the game further. The studio stated that it still has many things to add to the game, such as items, new mechanics, gameplay balance, and more.
The Forest Game
Sons of the Forest is the follow-up to Endnight’s 2018 game, The Forest, which follows the story of a lone survivor of a plane crash who lands in a mysterious forest and must fight mutants to survive. The studio credits the success of The Forest to feedback from the community, which is why they aimed to follow a similar approach with Sons of the Forest.
Early Access to Sons of The Forest
Sons of the Forest is available on Steam Early Access for $30. Endnight anticipates that the game will stay in Early Access for approximately 6-8 months, but this could change. The current version of the game includes single-player and multiplayer modes for up to eight players. Endnight plans to use player feedback to make bug fixes and improvements to balance and core gameplay as time progresses.
